professional river guide Tamsen Henry

Tamsen grew up in the small community of Vashon Island, Washington. Her youth was filled with adventurous outdoor sports like rock climbing, rafting, as well as competitive team sports like basketball, and softball. Among all the running and jumping around outside, Tamsen developed a strong appreciation for connection to nature, and an affinity for the boundless joy that curiosity may bring. Through guiding folks on the river, she seeks to give back by helping to spark this sense of curiosity, belonging, and confidence in her guests which has brought so much enrichment to her life.
Tamsen graduated in 2025 from Western Washington University with a BA in Environmental Studies and a Certificate of Geographic Information Science. She is a twice certified Swiftwater rescue technician (PRO-1), and a wilderness first responder. During the off season she travels to foreign countries to develop her Spanish fluency, and to learn from communities and cultures around the world.
