Why Eagle Watching? … and Why in the Winter?

  1. The Skagit River is home to the largest bald eagle migration in the continental United States, and the gentle meandering flow of the dam controlled river offers tremendous views of these birds during peak migrating season.

  2. Viewing Bald Eagles is no easy task! Many people travel great distances (we have had guests travel all the way from Europe to see the Skagit Eagles!) to view this majestic creatures.

  3. Bald Eagles are symbolic as our national bird, as well as live an incredibly alluring life of survival among treacherous conditions. Bald Eagles are truly fascinating creatures who have, through the course of thousands of years of evolution, become extremely adept at navigating river corridors hunting for prey. There is no more exciting animal to witness in its natural element than a Bald Eagle.

The Skagit Eagle Tours Story…

In 1997 Skagit River Guide Service started running commercial trips on the Skagit River, focusing eventually on eagle watching during the winter migration.

In 2012 Triad River Tours started running commercial eagle watching trips, but recognized one critical advantage that the existing company had when it came to trip quality….

Custom Designed Heated Drift Boats

In 2021 Triad River Tours purchased Skagit River Guide Service, and all of their custom drift boats, operating systems, and equipment. In addition, we worked directly with Koffler Driftboats to renovate all boats to ensure that they were up to the quality standards that our guests expect. As a result, we now offer the highest quality experience for anyone looking to explore the Skagit River during the winter Bald Eagle migration, or for someone looking to get themselves and loved ones out for a breathtaking scenic river trip during winter (and not freeze while doing it).
