Why Eagle Watching? … and Why in the Winter?
The Skagit River is home to the largest bald eagle migration in the continental United States, and the gentle meandering flow of the dam controlled river offers tremendous views of these birds during peak migrating season.
Viewing Bald Eagles is no easy task! Many people travel great distances (we have had guests travel all the way from Europe to see the Skagit Eagles!) to view this majestic creatures.
Bald Eagles are symbolic as our national bird, as well as live an incredibly alluring life of survival among treacherous conditions. Bald Eagles are truly fascinating creatures who have, through the course of thousands of years of evolution, become extremely adept at navigating river corridors hunting for prey. There is no more exciting animal to witness in its natural element than a Bald Eagle.
